The Magic Hour (2008)

The Magic Hour Trailer

Thumbs up for this Japanese Movie. The actors are great and funny. There are many well-known actors and don't miss them!

Burn After Reading (2008)

Burn After Reading (2008) Trailer

This movie seems meaningless but the structure is rigid. The storylines of characters are interlocking. I love this kind of genre. If you like it too, recommend you to watch Magnolia and I Heart Huckabees. These two movies are deeper in meaning.

One Republic - Stop and Stare

Music is nice~ Especially Stop and Stare.

Black Eyed Peas - Money Business Album

I've been listening to thier Monkey Business album recently. Good lyrics.

Keane - Spiralling

Keane's song Spiralling in album Perfect Symmetry is wonderful. Like his voice a lot.

HSM3's soundtrack is superb too.

Travis new album Ode to J Smith is so-so.

Hancock (2008), Get Smart (2008), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), 88 Minutes (2007), High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008)

Haven't updated for quite a while, watched a lot of movies during these months.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)'s plot is kind of seen-it-before. The storyline doesn't make sense. But CGs are good!

88 Minutes (2007) is about the 88 threatening minutes of Al Pacino. Not a very remarkable movie.

I wanna produce an Indiana Jones 4 spoof. I just need a hat and a whip!

Hancock (2008) Trailer

Thumbs up for Hancock. Charlize Theron is so pretty and her character is tough. Like her a lot.

Get Smart (2008) Trailer

Get Smart (2008) is American version Johnny English. Silly and makes you laugh.

The Magic Hour is a Japanese movie. The theme is clear and each scene is relevant to the theme. There are a lot of gags. Interesting and fun to watch! Recommended.

I watched High School Musical 2 before. High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) (HSM 3)'s songs are fabulous. The broadway style scene for the song I Want It All is cool. There's so much more to talk about the movie~

Magnolia (1999)

Magnolia (1999) Trailer

The songs of the movie are so compelling, especially Wise Up and Save Me by Aimee Mann. 9 characters are bonded together by strange events on the same day. Life is more interactive than you think it is. This is another movie that I must re-watch after I Heart Huckabees!

And I watched a lighter comedy How To Steal A Million featuring Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. It is less excited that I think it is.

But I must say 3D version of Journey to the Centre of the Earth is spectacular! Even the subtitle pops out! Very interesting. I can expect when the special effects of 4D version would come out, e.g. breezes when the characters are falling, water splashes when they are near water, etc. That is fun!

Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death & Good Morning Revival Album

The Chronicles of Life and Death Album and...

Good Morning Revival Album...are two splendid albums!

I like the remix version of "Put Your Hands Off My Girl". I love Pop & Rock!

I've been listening to quite a number of good albums recently, e.g. Keane's Under the Iron Sea, Orange Range's Ikenai Taiyo.

For TV, I like the voice of Robin Hood so much. Hotel Babylon is on season 3 now. Pace of the programme is so well-controlled. Life on Mars is a bit boring. Maybe I'm not that into 1970's. Though Damages is just a TV drama, I think it's quite bloody real. We're forcing ourselves to do something "right". But is that what we want? Who can determine who and what is right? Heard that there is a second season.

Do you know the difference between director/ filmmaker/ producer? I'll tell you next time.

Komaneko

I watched the short clips of the cat making dolls and and shooting them. It got me because I have shot my dolls too. It is hard to place them in position while shooting from the other side. The lighting, the props, the actors, the scripts, the sound, the editing. It is complicated yet fun to direct a movie.

I shall produce my masterpiece very soon. Stay tuned.

Sex And The City (2008)

Sex and The City Trailer

The opening is so powerful. It's brief but gets to the point. It's a nice movie to watch but not very memorable. Some people cried for the scene on the Brooklyn Bridge. The costumes are fabulous. It's like a fashion show. I'll give it a 3 out of 5.

Travis - Under the Moonlight

Under the Moonlight is a great song. Battleships' lyrics are fantastic. I'm crazy about this band now. The MTVs are humorous. Really good music. I like their accent.

There are so many good bands in Britain. And I like indie bands.

Film critic, The OC Season 4

The O.C. Season 4 Promo

It's so ironic that in the OC 4, Summer said why don't Seth be a film critic.
It's easy to point out the shortcomings of others but it's hard to see our own.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) Trailer

The is adopted from the second out of seven books of Narnia. It's been a long time since the first chronicle. I can hardly remember the storyline. But everything seems so familiar. The lion, the witch, the four brothers and sisters, the war, the beasts... The movie is quite long and boring sometimes. CGs are good. The movie is not very remarkable, nonetheless, it's worth watching yet another enchanted story.

The Fratellis - Costello Music Album & Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back

I used to listen to music at least a year later than the trend. Ha ha!

The Fratellis' music are really rich and crazy! Much alike Mika. Like riding a roller coaster. It's fun!

Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back reminds me of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Girls are crazy about him. Really cool and sexy.

These two albums can satisfy me for a month!

P.S. I Love You (2007), No Country For Old Man (2007), Enchanted (2007), Sleuth (2007), Big Fish (2003), Eastern Promises (2007)

I'm crazy about movies!

P.S. I Love You (2007) Trailer

To start with, I watched P.S. I Love You (2007). Though it's a little bit late, still catch it on screen. The story is very touching. Just want to give Hilary Swank a message from Face of Boe, "You are not alone." of Doctor Who. Don't cry, my sweetheart.

No Country For Old Man (2007) Trailer

It is about an awkward killer. No meaning at all.

Enchanted (2007) Trailer

Enchanted (2007) is a cliche. Amy Adams' costumes are really low-cut. Hey girl, you're too sexy for a family movie. And Patrick Dempsey is playing the Mr. Darcy again. Just like his character in Sweet Home Alabama. Thought man like him should be good. But from the cut scenes in the DVD, there was a storyline of the perfect man cheating his girl. That's the reality, huh?
Conclusion: there's no fairy tale in real life.

Sleuth (2007) is crap. A simple plot about love, jealousy and manipulation. The whole film only stars two men, Michael Cain and Jude Law. They only talk the talk. So wasting my time watching it!

Big Fish (2003) Trailer

Big Fish (2003) is about the story of father and son. Not until the end I find the story touching. The father said he would die in way you wouldn't expected. Turned out was quite plain. The son put him into the river and he turned back into a big fish, which he always talked about. It's somehow like Seven, need to fulfill the prophecy and make things complete.

Eastern Promises (2007) Trailer

Eastern Promises (2007) stars Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts. It's another dark story of the Oscar this year. There's an nude scene in the movie. And very violent and bloody. Not everybody can take it.

Wow! I can be a film critic too!

The Simpsons Movie (2007), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Swordfish (2001), High School Music 2 (2007)

Wow! Despite peak season, I watched so many motion pictures recently.

The Simpsons Movie (2007) is funny. Used a lot of colloquials. Gotta be very American to understand.

Ratatouille (2007) tries to be French. I love the background music. It's like playing Bistro.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) is the sequel of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. Kind of seen it before.

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind (2002) is a mess. With all the big stars, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Drew Barrymore but no meaning at all.

I watched Swordfish(2001) just for Hugh Jackman. He plays an hacker expert and his look is cool & punk. Not the best movie for him.

High School Musical 2 (2007) is Disney's Channel original movie. Melody & lyrics are nice. A very cliche storyline.

Friday Night Project with John Barrowman

Check out John's Arabian Nights and David Tennant's question for John!!!

Friday Night Project with David Tennant

Accidentally find this programme from the youtube. David played Casanova before. He has a Scottish accent. Find out what he says about his bad habit. :P

The Weakest Link - Dr Who Special

This is so funny! With John Barrowman as Jack, Noel as Mickey, Andrew as Jake, David as Dr Who, Camille as Rose's mom, Darlek's voice-over and K-9 the tin dog, this episode is so interesting!

I Heart Huckabees (2004)

I Heart Huckabees Trailer

"Nobody sits like this rock sits,
You rock, Rock;
The rock just sits and is
You show us just how to sit here
And that's what we need."
---from I Heart Huckabees

I love the line "You rock, Rock" most. The opening of the movie is so funny! The background music Monday adds more interest to the film.

It talks about existential issues, which reminds me of American Beauty. Every actors are so into their characters. Jude Law is as sexy as usual. Naomi Watts is the hottie. Mark Wahlberg is impulsive and strong. Darlene Hunt's character is named Darlene again as in Help Me Help You. Dustin Hoffman wears a wig which looks like beetles. He's so hilarious. All of their actings are a bit exagerrated. I don't get the meaning of life from the movie. But it still triggers your thinking of why we have to live on.

Katharine Hepburn

There are two Hepburns in Hollywood. One is Audrey Hepburn, the other is Katharine Hepburn. The first movie that she caught my attention was Woman of the Year, which she opposited Spencer Tracy.
I bought a biography on her called Beauty and Sadness. She's so confident and charming.
The only female that I would admit beautiful are Vivien Leigh, Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly and Katharine Hepburn. They each has their own kind of beauty. If Grace is graceful, then Katharine is charismatic.
I will talk more about her after finishing reading her biography.

The Cranberries - Dreams

Have you ever watched You've Got Mail? The song Dreams in the early of the movie is terrific!

"Oh, my life is changing everyday,
In every possible way.

And oh, my dreams, it's never quite as it seems,
Never quite as it seems.

I know I've felt like this before, but now I'm feeling it even more,
Because it came from you.
And then I open up and see the person falling here is me,
A different way to be..."

The Signature Collection - Cary Grant and Vivien Leigh

I bought 2 signature collections of Cary Grant and Vivien Leigh.

Notorious (1946) Clip

The collection of Cary Grant includes:
1. Notorious (1946) (with Ingrid Bergman)
2. Suspicion (1941)
3. To Catch a Thief (1955) (with Grace Kelly)
4. North By Northwest (1959)
5. The Philadelphia Story (1940) (with Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart)
6. An Affair to Remember (1957) (My favourite)
7. The Bishop's Wife (1947)
8. Destination Tokyo (1943)
9. Monkey Business (1952) (with Marilyn Monroe)
10.Brining Up Baby (1938) (with Katharine Hepburn)
11.His Girl Friday (1940)

Gone with the Wind Trailer

The collection of Vivien Leigh includes
1. Gone with the Wind (1939) (with Clark Gable and is one of my favourites)
2. Waterloo Bridge (1940)
3. A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) (I'm sorry but I think it's boring)
4. Fire Over England (1937)
5. Anna Karenina (1948)
6. That Hamilton Woman (1941)
7. Dark Journey (1937)
8. Sidewalks of London (1938)
9. Storm In A Teacup (1937)

I havne't finished watching all yet. But I found the acting by Cary Grant was versatile. He can act a variety of characters.
I realized that I prefer Cary Grant and James Stewart much more than Marlon Brando (coz his role in A Streetcar Named Desire was destructive). And I like Katharine Hepburn more and more because her roles are lighter. They make you feel happy.

Bringing Up Baby (1938)

Bringing Up Baby (1938) Trailer

A comedy by Cary Grant & Katharine Hepburn. The centre of the story is a leopard named Baby. They called to zoo to take it but have to find it back for her aunt. And then their tamed leopard was mixed up with another wild leopard from the zoo. Their acting are a bit exaggerated, but funny to watch!
I watched the other films co-acted by them, too. For example, the Holiday, the Philadelphia Story. All are terrific!
