I first heard of this song in Doctor Who's Series 9 Episode 9 Sleep No More. The second time I heard of this song is in Mr. Nobody (2009). Both times they are used in a spooky, surrealist way. But I do enjoy the song.

The songs by Fun. are interesting. Like the rythum. Not quite sure what the lyrics are about, but the melody is wonderful. Quite an uplifting music.

Big Country - In A Big Country

First time heard this song because of the television show the Carrie Diaries.  It was the prequel of Sex and the City.  I watched the Carrie Diaries just for Freema Agyeman, who played a companion of the Doctor in Doctor Who.

Like the chorus:

I quickly scan the biography and discography of some legend bands and singers, including Bee Gees, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, etc. I am interested in who influence them, and how they can fully develop their talents. Their stories are inspiring.

I believe not all people can start to develop their talents when they are young. Some people are not able to find their talents at all. Of course not everybody can be a rock star. But if you know what you are interested in and what you are capable of, you are already very fortunate. No matter how hard it takes, go for your dream.

Believe in yourself. And don’t look back.

A Single Man (2009) Trailer

Listening to the song Somebody To Love in A Serious Man (2009), I'm writing this review on A Single Man (2009).

It is said that the movie is Tom Ford's , the director, personal story. I think filmmakers' creative input some kind or another must come from personal experiences. I agree that life experience is crucial to story-telling.

The story is about a middle class professor's, whose homosexual partner has just died, decision to kill himself by the end of the day. The story is mainly about his internal conflict. However, the side casts have some influence to his decision. Charley, his best friend and ex-girl friend partied with him that night and had a discussion about their relationship. I thought the plot would be about euthanasia, but I was wrong.

On the way to home, two men approach him at different circumstances. One is a man from Madrid outside a store, the other is one of his student. They both flirt with him in a subtle way. And you can't help to think: how come he has so many romantic encounters in a day?

He's mourns the death of his partner, and is very hysterical and depressed. Would he commit suicide by the end of the day?

Spoilers below:
I think the ending is brilliant. That's how you get an Oscar nomination. If the story ends with him burning his will, it would be too plain. Instead, the twist lies when he chooses to live, he died of a heart attack. It's so out of control and ironic.

Ending this way would leave some kind of regret and makes the audience think. It's meaningful.

Every angle is planned, from the way he opens his drawer, picks up his pistol, packs his suitcase to the lining of rifles and alcohols on the wall behind. I think the director is a perfectionist. He's obsessive with perfection would easily lead him to depression. That's why he came up with such a topic.

To conclude, the simplified formula of Oscar nomination = Psychology (life & death instinct, childhood ==> complex internal conflict of characters and meaningful of life) + unresolved ending

Haven't Met You Yet

The Foxtrot by Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough in Dancing With the Stars is very inspiring. The background music is Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble. The danced a love story. It inspired me to direct a short love story between Mr. Bim and Be Be. Such a lovely couple.

The lyrics is about a man talking about how good he'll be to the girl and how amazing they'll be together. But they just haven't met each other yet. So it's all in his imagination.

Black Eye Peas - I Gotta Feelin'

Surprisingly, this song by the Black Eyed Peas is suitable for dancing Cha Cha Cha. The rhythm is so strong that you can count the beats (2, 3, 4 and, 1) clearly. But if you dance all 4 minutes 51 seconds, you'll be exhausted!

Lady Gaga - Summeryboy

I can't believe I'm listening to Lady GaGa! Ha ha! Is it a joke?
I like the melody of Summerboy and Poker Face. And I can't forget the spoof of Just Dance in Sunday Night Project! Bravo!

Robbie Williams - You Know Me

I love Robbie William's album Reality Killed the Video Star. I like the song You Know Me most. I like the rabbit outfit idea, it's like Alice in Wonderland. And the song Won't Do That is nice too.

Haven't updated for quite a while, watched a lot of movies during these months.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)'s plot is kind of seen-it-before. The storyline doesn't make sense. But CGs are good!

88 Minutes (2007) is about the 88 threatening minutes of Al Pacino. Not a very remarkable movie.

I wanna produce an Indiana Jones 4 spoof. I just need a hat and a whip!

Hancock (2008) Trailer

Thumbs up for Hancock. Charlize Theron is so pretty and her character is tough. Like her a lot.

Get Smart (2008) Trailer

Get Smart (2008) is American version Johnny English. Silly and makes you laugh.

The Magic Hour is a Japanese movie. The theme is clear and each scene is relevant to the theme. There are a lot of gags. Interesting and fun to watch! Recommended.

I watched High School Musical 2 before. High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) (HSM 3)'s songs are fabulous. The broadway style scene for the song I Want It All is cool. There's so much more to talk about the movie~

Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death & Good Morning Revival Album

Good Morning Revival Album...are two splendid albums!

I like the remix version of "Put Your Hands Off My Girl". I love Pop & Rock!

I've been listening to quite a number of good albums recently, e.g. Keane's Under the Iron Sea, Orange Range's Ikenai Taiyo.

For TV, I like the voice of Robin Hood so much. Hotel Babylon is on season 3 now. Pace of the programme is so well-controlled. Life on Mars is a bit boring. Maybe I'm not that into 1970's. Though Damages is just a TV drama, I think it's quite bloody real. We're forcing ourselves to do something "right". But is that what we want? Who can determine who and what is right? Heard that there is a second season.

Do you know the difference between director/ filmmaker/ producer? I'll tell you next time.

Travis - Under the Moonlight

Under the Moonlight is a great song. Battleships' lyrics are fantastic. I'm crazy about this band now. The MTVs are humorous. Really good music. I like their accent.

There are so many good bands in Britain. And I like indie bands.

The Fratellis' music are really rich and crazy! Much alike Mika. Like riding a roller coaster. It's fun!


Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back reminds me of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Girls are crazy about him. Really cool and sexy.

These two albums can satisfy me for a month!
