Charade (1963)

Charade (1963) Move Clip

I watched this movie because I am a fan of Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. The story is a romantic thriller with a lot of twists in the plot. Regina (Audrey Hepburn) wants a divorce with her husband and she gets what she wants in a surprising way: her husband was murdered. She is told that three men are going after her to get the 25 million which was stolen from the government by her husband and the three men years ago. Regina falls in love with Peter (Cary Grant) who is a mysterious man and later is discovered with multiple identities. So who killed Regina’s husband and who can be trusted?

Audrey’s character is lovable and smart. She knows how to ditches the man that chases her, though not successful every time. And as an audience, I don’t want Cary Grant be the bad guy. I once suspected him as the murderer when he stared Regina on the train. But after all the twists and turns, turns out he is the good guy and I like the happy ending. For the other characters, they are not very memorable and have no character arc at all.

The dialogue is not very memorable. But there are some comedic moments, such as Cary’s bathing scene with his clothes on. Even though the story is a little boring in the beginning, I didn’t care because I just love the charming performance of Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
